A 10-run first inning paced the Wichita Wingnuts to a 14-9 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Wednesday in American Association play at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Josh Horn drove in four runs for Wichita, going two for four at the plate. Brent Clevlen went two for four with two home runs and three RBIs. Edwin Bellorin went two for four with a home run. Juan Richardson went four for five hitting with an RBI. Jorge Delgado went two for five with a home run.

Zach Penprase led Fargo-Moorhead, going two for four with a home run and four RBIs. Nic Jackson went three for five with a home run and two RBIs. Carlo Cota had a Wichita run and two RBIs.

Chad Sherman went six innings for Wichita to get the win, improving to 3-2. Sherman allowed four runs on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

Josh Smith, 0-2, lasted just 2-3 innings for Fargo-Moorhead, giving up two earned runs on eight hits with three walks. Smith gave up three home runs.

Wichita sent five pitchers to the mound. Fargo-Moorhead sent four pitchers to the mound. The game featured a triple play by the RedHawks.

Wichita is 39-31, four games out of first place in the AA Central Division. Fargo-Moorhead fell to 30-40.

Wichita wraps up its series with Fargo-Moorhead at 7:05 p.m. today.
