Legion state game postponed

SALINA — The Sedgwick-Hays game at the American Legion baseball Class A state tournament at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina has been postponed until 8 a.m. today because of thunderstorms.

Wednesday’s game was delayed for about six hours until the decision was made to postpone the game.

Hole-in-one shot at HGP

HESSTON — Bryce Wall of Valley Center shot a hole-in-one Tuesday at Hesston Golf Park.

Wall used a pitching wedge to ace the 147-yard eighth hole.

Witnesses included Alan Joyal and Aspen Hunter.

Old Settlers tourney slated

HALSTEAD — The Old Settlers softball tournament will be Aug. 11 through 14 in Halstead.

There is a men’s division and a co-ed division.

The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Aug. 8.

Area racers play at speedway

PARK CITY — Brian Franz took second in the modified division Saturday at 81 Speedway.

David Blocher finished fifth in the street stocks. Scott Lang placed seventh in the thumper division.

Racing continues at 7 p.m. Saturday. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Hesston Open scheduled

HESSTON — The 2011 Hesston Open will be Aug. 20 and 21 at the Hesston Golf Park.

The tournament will be 36 holes of individual stroke play. No handicaps will be used. The tournament will have an 8 a.m. shotgun start each day.

Optional egg/skins games are available.

The entry deadline is Aug. 18.
