The Sound of the Heartland Ensemble, under the artistic direction of LaDonna Cheatham of McPherson, will entertain fairgoers at the Marion County Fair at 7:15 p.m. today.


The Sound of the Heartland Ensemble, under the artistic direction of LaDonna Cheatham of McPherson, will entertain fairgoers at the Marion County Fair at 7:15 p.m. today.
As an a cappella ensemble, the group will perform in the main thoroughfare among the audience, singing showtunes and audience favorites in four-part harmony.
Sound of the Heartland is a women's a cappella ensemble based in Newton. Members share a love for music and singing four-part barbershop harmony, and include other styles of music in their performances. The ensemble performs regularly throughout the community, offering its talent for entertainment at civic events and charitable functions, in addition to promoting vocal excellence and education.
The chorus has weekly rehearsals at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Trinity Heights UMC, 12th and Boyd in Newton.
