The Wichita Wingnuts were edged by the Shreveport-Bossier Captains 3-2 Wednesday in American Association play in Shreveport.

Wichita scored on a Brent Clavlin RBI double in the third inning and a solo home run for Peter Barrow in the fourth inning. The Captains replied with two runs in the sixth inning and a Palmer Karr Jr. RBI hit in the seventh inning.

Osvaldo Rodriguez went eight innings for the Captains to improve to 4-4. Rodriguez allowed two runs on five hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Mark Haynes pitched the top of the ninth for the save.

Bryan Sabatella went two for four hitting for the Captains with an RBI. Alex Cowart also had an RBI.

Ryan Hinson went six innings for Wichita in the loss, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Shreveport-Bossier improves to 29-35, moving into a tie for third place in the AA South. Wichita is 34-30. The Wingnuts take today off and open a three-game weekend series against the El Paso Diablos at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
