The Hesston High School track team put several entries into the finals after the first day of competition Friday at the Class 4A state competition at Cessna Stadium.


The Hesston High School track team put several entries into the finals after the first day of competition Friday at the Class 4A state competition at Cessna Stadium.

Hesston’s Mollie Nebel qualified for the finals in the 100-meter high hurdles, taking third in her heat in 15.67, fifth overall. Nebel won her heat in the 400-meter dash in 59.29, second overall.

Freshman Ali Jost took second in her heat of the 200-meter dash to advance to the finals in 26.63, seventh overall.

Hesston took second in its heat in the 4x100-meter relay in 50.04, third overall. Hesston won its heat of the 4x400-meter relay in 4:06.68, third best of prelims.

Samantha Short took 14th in the javelin in 101-3.

The Hesston boys qualified for the finals of the 4x400-meter relay in 2:29.45, fifth overall.

Lorenzo Jenkins was 11th in the triple jump in 41-7. Kyle Perry was 13th in the pole vault at 12-6.
