The Bethel College women’s basketball team ended the regular season with a 79-41 loss to Sterling College Saturday in the semifinals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament in Sterling.


The Bethel College women’s basketball team ended the regular season with a 79-41 loss to Sterling College Saturday in the semifinals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament in Sterling.

Bethel ends the season 16-14. Sterling, 26-4, faces Kansas Wesleyan at 8 p.m. today in the championship game at Hartman Arena. Both Sterling and Kansas Wesleyan have clinched berths in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II Championships.

Sterling led 38-20 at the half, and continued to pull away in the second half.

Bethel was just 28.8 percent from the field, hitting 17 of 59, two of 18 from 3-point range. Sterling was 29 of 53 from the field, five of 13 from 3-point range. Bethel was just five of 12 from the free throw line while Sterling was 16 of 22.

Cami Racette led Sterling with 21 points, followed by Madison Lucas with 14 and Candace Ewert with 10 points.

Holly Anthony led Bethel with nine points and 12 rebounds. Samantha Askew came off the bench to score nine points.
