Richard W. McGinn, 83, retired Sedgwick Elementary School custodian, died on Saturday (Feb. 26, 2011) at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.


Richard W. McGinn, 83, retired Sedgwick Elementary School custodian, died on Saturday (Feb. 26, 2011) at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.
He was born on May 9, 1927, in Newton to John Maurice and Evelyn E. (Schuetz) McGinn.
A lifelong resident of Sedgwick, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead.
Survivors include sons, Mark (Carolyn) McGinn of Sedgwick and Garth (Terri) McGinn of Bel Aire; daughter, Leigh Charles of Sedgwick; brothers, Jerry (Mary) McGinn of Sedgwick and Duane (Charlotte) McGinn of Halstead; sister, Janice (Gene) McVicar of Sedgwick; three grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; two great-grandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth McGinn, and a grandson, Dustin Fry.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. Father Steve Baxter will officiate.
Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
Memorials may be given to Sedgwick EMS or Sedgwick Historical Society, both in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
