Jannett G. Schmidt, 53, of Carthage, Mo., passed away on Monday (Feb. 21, 2011) at her home surrounded by her husband, son, pastor and her best friend. 


Jannett G. Schmidt, 53, of Carthage, Mo., passed away on Monday (Feb. 21, 2011) at her home surrounded by her husband, son, pastor and her best friend.  
She was born on Sept. 29, 1957, in Halstead to Shelton (Red) Bartley and Pauline (White) Bartley. Jannett married Randy Schmidt on June 11, 1977, in Newton. He survives.
Jannett was employed by Oxford In Home Service for the past 10 years. Jannett also enjoyed collecting, buying and selling Barbie dolls all over the world. She looked forward to vacations on Table Rock Lake and Caribbean cruises with family and friends.
Additional survivors include one son, Jason Schmidt of Carthage; one sister, Laura and husband, Harry Wolfe of Newton; one brother, Mike Bartley of Columbus; father-in-law, Bob Schmidt of Newton; brother-in-law, Jeff Schmidt and wife, Gayle, of Fredonia; and many nieces and nephews.  
Visitation will be at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
A celebration of Jannett’s life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Street Assembly of which she was a member. Pastor Anthony Crane will preside. Burial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Following the graveside service, family will meet with friends at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.
