  • On Dec. 9, Book ReViews gave $2,000 each to Hope Home Repair, to Bethel College Academy for the Performing Arts and to The Neighbor Store in Halstead.
For the fall semester, the Academy for Performing Arts gave eight scholarships to needy students.
Danika Bielek, executive director of the Academy said, “This donation will help us continue these scholarships, much needed and appreciated, for the next semester.”
The Neighbor Store in Halstead provides free clothing and food to needy residents in the Halstead and Burrton areas. Hope Home Repair assists low income people with urgent needed repairs.
Book ReViews is at 707 N Main St. Gifts to local agencies are possible because the store sells donated books and is operated by volunteers. The store welcomes book donations and additional volunteers are needed, according to Vern Preheim, the manager.
Don Schmidt, Book ReViews treasurer, right, presents a check to Kathy Bestvater and Neal Schwabauer of Hope HomeRepair.
