The father of a suburban Kansas City high school senior who died after collapsing during a football game says his son had been playing with a concussion.
Nathan Stiles left the Spring Hill High School game against Osawatomie before half time Thursday.
He collapsed on the sidelines and was flown to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Friday.
A cause of death has not been released.
Ron Stiles, Nathan Stiles’ father, said he was not certain what caused his son’s death.
But he said Nathan had suffered a concussion in the school’s homecoming game earlier this month.
He said his son had been cleared to play on Thursday.
Ron Stiles said there weren’t any malicious hits during Thursday’s game.
