Bethel College softball coach Stacy Middleton signed four more players for the first edition of the Thresher squad, which begins play in the 2011-12 school year.

Players signed include outfielder Morgan Griffin of Sedgwick, first baseman Ashley Rowley of Sedgwick, pitcher Jenna Normandin of Sedgwick and outfielder Kate Hussey of Valley Center.

Sedgwick was 8-13 last season, falling in the first round of the Class 3A regionals to Wichita Collegiate.

Hussey was a first-team All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division II selection at outfield last year. Valley Center reached the Class 4A regional semifinals, falling to Buhler 2-1.

“I am lucky to get this group of kids,” Middleton said. “All four play on a summer club team together. I have watched these girls play club ball the past two summers and they all have great chemistry and are a very fundamentally sound group. They have played together since they were very young and have had great coaching. I am excited that they have all decided to continue their careers at Bethel. They each bring a different aspect to the game and are very good at the plate.”
