WICHITA — Services are scheduled for Saturday for a 21-year-old Wichita soldier who died in Afghanistan.
Army officials notified the family of Army Spc. Tom Moffitt that he died on Saturday. He was scheduled to come home on leave next month.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Community Church in Wichita. Moffitt will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Moffitt was a gunner stationed in the Paktika Province, in the southeastern part of Afghanistan. He was assigned to the Delta Company of the 2nd Battalion in the 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division.
The Wichita Eagle reports he is survived by his parents, John and Brenda Moffitt, and an older brother.
