The Kansas Animal Health Department recently seized more than 100 dogs from a breeding operation in northwest Kansas.
The destination organizations include Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton, Kansas Humane Society in Wichita, Humane Society of the Plains in Hays, Great Bend Humane Society, Lawrence Humane Society, Animal Haven in Merriam, Pawnee County Humane Society in Larned, Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka, Cowley County Humane Society in Winfield and Salina Animal Shelter.
This transfer involves more destination rescue organizations than other seizures in recent years, said Carmen Simon of the Kansas Animal Health Department.
“When it comes to an operation of this size, we can’t do it without everybody’s help,”  Simon said.
Breeds seized are diverse, and selection may vary depending on the rescue Group.
Caring Hands Humane society is scheduled to receive boxers, a Keeshond, Maltese mixes, Dachshunds and a Pekingese.
The animals are scheduled to arrive at Caring Hands Humane Society at 8 a.m. today.
Caring Hands is the last scheduled delivery of the destination rescue organizations.
Caring Hands Humane Society will evaluate the dogs before making them available for adoption, but several other dogs are available for immediate adoption with an approved application.
Caring Hands has helped in numerous cases like this in the past; more this year than in previous years.
Thanks to dedicated volunteers, donors, and compassionate adopters, Caring Hands typically has great success in finding forever homes for these dogs.
Caring Hands Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit Humane Society dedicated to the relief of animal suffering and strengthening the bond between humans and companion animals.
Caring Hands Humane Society is at 1400 S.E. Third St. in Newton.
