The Remington High School volleyball team ended the season after a loss in the championship match of the Class 3A sub-state tournament in Leon.


The Remington High School volleyball team ended the season after a loss in the championship match of the Class 3A sub-state tournament in Leon.

Remington opened with a 25-19, 25-18 win over Belle Plaine. Cori Thunberg and Chelsea Coats each went 11 of 11 serving. Many McNeill served 15 assists. Jessi Green had eight kills. Quin Tillotson had seven kills. Jessica DeBaun had seven kills and 11 total blocks. Nicole Minder had six total blocks.

In the semifinals, Remington downed Douglass 25-21, 21-25, 26-24. Coats was 19 of 19 serving. Victoria Carr went eight of eight serving. McNeill had 21 assists. Green had 13 kills and 46 good passes. DeBaun had 11 kills and 19 blocks, downing seven. Tillotson had nine kills and 13 blocks. Kaitlin O’Hara had four kills and seven downed blocks.

In the championship match, Remington fell to Eureka 25-22, 25-18. Green was 14 of 14 serving and had seven blocks. Lauren Berg had five good attacks and two kills. Thunberg had 13 assists. Madison Janzen had 28 good passes. Coats had 21 good passes and four kills.

Eureka enters state play 33-6. Remington ends the season 28-13.
