The Hillsboro Trojan volleyball team had a long day, but made it count, winning the Class 3A sub-state tournament Saturday in Council Grove.

Hillsboro went 3-0 in the tournament, needing three games in each match.

Hillsboro opened with a 25-15, 21-25, 25-20 win over host Council Grove in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Hillsboro downed Southeast of Saline 25-18, 21-25, 25-19.

In the finals, Hillsboro downed top-seeded Burlington 25-15, 22-25, 25-14.

Hillsboro is 30-10 and plays in the Class 3A state tournament Friday and Saturday at the Bicentennial Center in Salina.

Marion finished the tournament 1-1. Marion downed Lyons 25-13, 25-13. In the semifinals, Marion fell to Burlington 25-14, 25-15. Marion ends the season 15-20.
