I recently attended a political gathering in Newton sponsoring Raj Goyle. Good company, great food, and we got to hear and visit with Raj.
But to me, the highlight of the evening was the makeup of the group. Of the eight sponsors, four were Democrats, four were Republicans and, scattered among the crowd were more Republicans.
“Wow,” I thought, “These folks are practicing Raj’s model! They are reaching across our differences to find common ground.”
It was a refreshing, eye-opening event. I enjoyed talking to Raj, but I was delighted to exchange ideas with one of the Republican sponsors.
Perhaps we are not as polarized as I had thought. Perhaps we can come together and resolve our many problems.
