Candidates forum set for Monday

There will be a candidates forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the McKinley Administrative Center, 308 E. First St., in the school board room.
This forum is given by the Newton Business and Professional Women.

Teen movie set
at Newton library

Teen Read Week celebrations close at Newton Public Library with a movie and activities from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
All teens are invited to enjoy popcorn and watch a movie starring Jack Black as a wannabe rock star in need of cash who poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school, and tries to turn his class into a rock band. Prizes will be given for the teen that comes closest to guessing the number of books in the teen section of the Library. This event is free. The Library is located at 720 North Oak.

A veterans service representative for the Kansas Commission on Veteran's affairs will be at the Newton Area Senior center, 122 E. 6th St., on Friday November the 12th  from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Kansas Commission on Veteran's Affairs is a state agency that provides free assistance to veterans and their eligible family members with matters pertaining to veteran's benefits.
