HESSTON — The Hesston Swathers fell to unbeaten Abilene 26-7 Friday in district play in Hesston.

The 8-0 Cowboys scored in every quarter. Jordon Ward had 25 carries for 121 yards. Kelly Kane added 10 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. Christian McDonald added a rushing touchdown. Nick Rice passed for 148 yards and a touchdown. Justin Linn hit two field goals for Abilene.

Hesston was held to 130 yards total offense. The Swathers scored on a four-yard Kyle Perry run with 47 seconds left in regulation.

Hesston is 6-2, 1-1 in district play, and plays at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chapman.

SEDGWICK — The Garden Plain Owls took a 14-point lead at halftime and held on for a 44-35 win over the Sedgwick Cardinals Friday in Class 3A district play in Sedgwick.

Nic Waton led Garden Plain with 117 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Lucas Jennings rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown. Nathan Becker also rushed for a touchdown. Aaron Tomlinson hit four of eight passes for 109 yards and a touchdown to Reed Hartshorn.

For Sedgwick, Trent Stucky hit 21 of 33 passes for 366 yards and five touchdowns. Nate Day caught 11 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns. Elliott Money caught two touchdown passes. Daniel Voght added a touchdown pass.

Garden Plain is 7-1, 2-0 in district play. Sedgwick is 6-2, 1-1 in district play. Sedgwick hosts Hutchinson Trinity at 7 p.m. Thursday.

LITTLE RIVER — The Peabody-Burns Warriors are in the driver’s seat for a playoff spot after a 36-6 win over Little River Friday in Eight-Man Division I district play in Little River.

Storm Pickens rushed for 201 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns. Abe Eldridge added 91 yards on eight carries with a touchdown.

Little River didn’t score until the fourth quarter when Cader Ackerman hit a 46-yard pass to Kyle Arbuckle.

Peabody-Burns is 5-3, 4-1 in district play. The Warriors can advance to the playoffs with a win Thursday at home against Goessel.

GOESSEL — The Goessel Bluebirds won for the second straight week, stopping Canton-Galva 58-32 Friday in district play in Goessel.

Neal Brubaker hit 16 of 31 passes for 235 yards with four touchdowns. John Berkholz rushed for 131 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns and caught two passes for 75 yards, both touchdowns. Nicholas Buller and Jake Smucker each added a touchdown reception. Brubaker added a rushing touchdown.

Berkholz also scored on a 66-yard kickoff return.

Goesel broke the game open with a 30-8 third quarter.

Goessel is 3-5, 2-3 in district play. The Bluebirds ends the season Thursday at Peabody-Burns.

Hemberger added a touchdown pass.

Argonia scored 38 points in the fourth quarter to break open a 20-6 game.

Jaxson Pohlman and Daniel Nevarez each had rushing touchdowns for the Chargers.

Burrton falls to 1-7 and ends the season Thursday at South Barber.

BUFFALO — Tanner Brunner rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two to hand the Centre Cougars a 54-6 win over Altoona-Midway Friday in district play in Buffalo.

The game was called at the half on the 45-point rule.

The win clinches a playoff spot for the Cougars, 7-0 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Rustyn Kerbs rushed for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass. Cole Svoboda returned an interception for a score. Kyle Methvin threw a touchdown pass. Brian Burhoop and caught a touchdown pass.

Centre ends the regular season Thursday at home against Hartford.

Moundridge 67, Bennington 18

BENNINGTON — The Moundridge Wildcats punched their playoff ticket with a 67-18 win over Bennington Friday in Class 2-1A district and Heart of America League play.

Moundridge improves to 3-5, 3-1 in district play and 1-4 in HOAL play. The Wildcats finish second in district play.

Daniel Ratzlaff led the Wildcat charge with 183 yards rushing on 12 carries with four touchdowns. Trey Unrau added 152 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown. Joel Sugars had 105 yards on seven carries with a score. Cooper Wedel had just four carries for 11 yards, but scored twice. Dale Asher and Wes Johnson each added touchdown runs.

The Wildcats finished the game with 523 rushing yards.

For Bennington, 1-7, Brian Gellinger had 26 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown. Zach Fief hit three of eight passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Gellinger and Kyle Murphy each scored a touchdown pass.

Moundridge ends the regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday at Brookville against Ell-Saline in a HOAL, non-district game.
