The Newton Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Bureau hosts the 16th Annual Halloween Safe Walk from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30.
Families and children are invited to downtown Newton, where local businesses will be set up on Main Street sidewalks for trick-or-treating.
The Halloween Safe Walk began with the idea of providing a secure location where children could trick-or-treat freely and safely, without the concern of traffic, issues with strangers and to allow trick-or-treating from a reliable source, a press release stated.
Participating businesses are asked to plan for treats for approximately 1,500 children.
This year, a Pumpkin “Patch” will be provided by Beck’s Farm, with pumpkins available for purchase.
For questions or if your business or organization is interested in handing out candy, please call Billi Wilson at the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce at 316-283-2560 and a location will be set aside for you.
