The Burrton High School track team picked up a medal in the first day of Class 1A competition at the state track and field championships in Wichita.

Alex Santiago cleared 6-2 to place fourth in the boys’ high jump.

For the Burrton girls, Maria Fernandez was 12th in the 3,200-meter run at 13:26.78. Meghan Navarro didn’t finish.

The Centre boys claimed a medal when Trevor Troutt finished fourth in the discus at 145-0.

For the Centre girls, Theo Kassbaum reached the finals in the 100-meter high hurdles, finishing eighth in 17.04.
