Evelyn Friesen Wiens Wiebe, 91, passed away Thursday (May 27, 2010) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1918, in DuBois, Idaho, the daughter of Henry and Helena Dyck Friesen.


Evelyn Friesen Wiens Wiebe, 91, passed away Thursday (May 27, 2010) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1918, in DuBois, Idaho, the daughter of Henry and Helena Dyck Friesen. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton.

Living most of her life in rural Newton, she was a homemaker.

On July 25, 1943, she married Nick Wiens in Inman. He passed away on April 12, 1975. On Jan. 20, 1979, she married John Wiebe in Newton. He passed away on July 29, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Mahan (Phil) of Alma and Carol Grabrian (Michael) of Hammond, Wis.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Wiens of Hesston; one son-in-law, Jim Smith of Hesston; one brother, Milton Friesen (Carman) of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren, Kim Barber (Brett) of Hesston, Phil Wiens (Krista) Nappanee, Ind., Amy Replogle (Mickey) of Hesston, Michael Smith (Dana) of Norman, Okla., Erin Morse (Chris) of Wamego, Emily Perry (Brad) of Overland Park, Jeremy Grabrian (Anna) of Overland Park, Danielle Grabrian of Medellin, Colombia, South America, Timothy Grabrian of Hammond and Nathan Grabrian of Hammond; and 13 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Mason Barber, Kennedy and Cooper Wiens, Abigail, Addelin and Ty Replogle, Isaac, Elijah and Jeremiah Smith, Skylar and Lane Morse, and Jack Grabrian.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Wiens, and one daughter, Dianne Smith.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Hesston.

Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston with Carol Grabrian officiating. Private graveside services will be in North Inman Cemetery in Inman.
