State regulators want to hear from the public about Empire District Electric Co.’s application to offer Kansas customers a variety of energy efficiency programs.
Empire District serves about 10,000 electric customers in southeast Kansas.
The Kansas Corporation Commission will hold a public hearing on the plan at 7 p.m. today at the Baxter Springs Community Center.
Empire is proposing to offer energy efficiency programs for residential, commercial and industrial customers — and to recover the costs.
The company estimates the costs would add about 58 cents to monthly bills for the average residential customer.
