The public is invited to celebrate Kansas’ 149th birthday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. today at Kauffman Museum in North Newton.

This year’s theme is “Going Green in Kansas.”

Events will continue as planned despite the snow.

Activities include crafts for kids, demonstrations, a flea market, a bake sale, outdoor snow games (just added) and presentations.

At 1:45 p.m., Jesse Graber will have a program on homemade music.

Dale Jones of Enertech Inc. in Newton will speak about wind energy in Kansas.

At 2:45 and 3:45 p.m., ventriloquist Larry Temple and friends will discuss “going green.”
