The Newton High School wrestling team placed seventh Friday and Saturday at the 22-team Blue Valley Northwest Invitational.


The Newton High School wrestling team placed seventh Friday and Saturday at the 22-team Blue Valley Northwest Invitational.

The Railers were led by Miles Johns, who won the title at 130 pounds with a 4-0 record. David Garcia took second at 215 pounds with a 3-1 record.

Fifth-place finishes went to Quinton Harrison at 112 pounds (5-2) and Garrett McEachern at 119 pounds (4-2). Sixth-place finishes went to Dillon Archer at 160 pounds and Stuart McConnell at 171 pounds. Both went 3-3.

Other Railer wrestlers in competition included Jared Suppes at 103 pounds (1-2), Helam Hernandez at 125 pounds (2-2), T.J. Graber at 135 pounds (0-2), Austin Crumrine at 140 pounds (1-2), Brody Deschner at 145 pounds (0-2), Peter Nelson at 152 pounds (2-2), Hugh McConnell at 189 pounds (2-2) and Carlos Hernandez at heavyweight (0-2).

Newton competes Friday and Saturday at the Garden City Invitational.
