Irvin C. Mosiman, 86, passed away on Saturday (Jan. 23, 2010) at Newton Medical Center, surrounded by his family, after a short bout with cancer.


Irvin C. Mosiman, 86, passed away on Saturday (Jan. 23, 2010) at Newton Medical Center, surrounded by his family, after a short bout with cancer.

He was born on Dec. 6, 1923, in rural Peabody, to Christian C. and Mary (Nickel) Mosiman.

Irvin was united in marriage to LaVerne Merritt-Kitterman on June 29, 1946, in Whitewater.

He worked at the Vicker's Refinery in Potwin, and later at the Derby Refinery in Wichita.

Irvin was a very talented craftsman. He was a very loving husband, father and devoted grandfather.

He was a member of the Federated Church in Whitewater.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne, of 63 years; son, Roger Mosiman of Halstead; daughter, Joann Klaassen and her husband Calvin of Whitewater; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Kitterman of Newton; grandchildren, Jeff Klaassen and wife, Jeni; Kiley (Klaassen) Barnes and husband, Jason; Chad Klaassen; Angela (Kitterman) Carter and husband, Steve; Steve Kitterman and wife, Brenda; Ginger (Kitterman) Coats; Robyn Kitterman; and Gail (Kitterman) Frey and husband James; great-grandchildren, Ava Klaassen; Britany Klaassen; Colton Barnes; Brooklyn Barnes; Cari (Kitterman) Williamson and husband, Joel; Jamie Kitterman; Bryan Carter and wife, Georgie; Shelby (Carter) Ramsey and husband, Jason; Jacob Coats; Jacky Coats; Andrew Fayette; Tanner Frey; and Colby Frey; great-great-grandchildren: Landon Ramsey; Courtlyn Ramsey; and Easton Carter; sister, Frieda Lee and husband Joe; and many nieces and nephews.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Mosiman; a sister, Marjorie Lewis; a son, Sam Kitterman; and a grandson, Sam C. Kitterman.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home of Whitewater.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Federated Church in Whitewater with burial following at the Whitewater Cemetery.
