Free Senior Swim — 1 to 2 p.m. weekdays. Senior swim is free and open to all older than age 55. The water temperature is kept between 86 and 89 degrees.

Swimming classes — First session is free for all water or land fitness classes taught by NRC instructors. Everyone is invited to try a class. Water fitness classes work toward cardiovascular fitness, toning and flexibility. The water gives you a great workout while cushioning your joints.

• Aquacise Morning Class — 8 to 8:50 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This class works toward cardiovascular fitness, toning and flexibility. The water gives you a great workout while cushioning your joints.

• Aquacise Strength and Stretch Class — 8 to 8:50 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a higher-intensity class. Target heart rate will be reached early and maintained during the session. The work-out is concluded with stretch and cool down.

• At Your Own Pace — 9 to 9:50 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is an overall strength-training and aerobics class for those of all abilities and ages. The class also features lots of fellowship.

• Arthricise — 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Water exercise is ideal for those who have difficulty in regular exercise programs. Come meet some new friends while getting some exercise. The class is led by an arthritis trained instructor. No swimming is required. A lift is available to enter and exit the pool if needed.

• Adapted Aquacise — 4 to 4:45 p.m. Mondays. This water class is for the physically and/or mentally challenged and their caregivers.

Wellness Center Memberships — Senior rates are available monthly, semi-annually or annually for people ages 55 and older. Wellness Center senior members may participate in SilverSneakers classes for free. The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is the nation’s leading exercise program designed for older adults. For more information, call 283-1157. Special prices are available for semi-annual and annual memberships during January.

SilverSneakers II — Cardio Circuit — 8 to 8:45 a.m. Mondays and Fridays. Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

SilverSneakers — Muscular Strength and Range of Movement — 10:15 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakers — YogaStretch — 3:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. Wednesdays. Class is designed to physically and mentally engage members with safe and fun yoga postures and breathing exercises. Using a chair for support, participants work at their own pace to build flexibility and endurance while learning to relax and think more clearly.

Tai Chi — 5 to 5:40 p.m. Thursdays. Designed by Dr. Paul Lam especially for people with arthritis. Tai Chi consists of fluid, gentle movements that are relaxed and slow tempo. Benefits include improved concentration, balance, posture, and heart and lung function. Instructor, Rich Hanley.

Free Open Gym — Anyone may bring a basketball and shoot some hoops in NRC’s gymnasium during business hours.

Climate Controlled Indoor Walking Track — The NRC Gym has a walking track (12 laps equal one mile) available for walking at anytime during business hours. Use of the track is free.
