A man was injured about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 135 when he fell off the running board of a semi truck.

The incident began when 35-year-old Jerry West of McPherson was involved in an incident of possible road rage with a couple of semi drivers.

West and the semi drivers stopped where the interstate meets U.S. Highway 50 and reportedly had a verbal altercation. One of the semi drivers, 32-year-old Scott Harrington of Wellington, tried to leave the scene when West allegedly jumped on the running board of Harrington’s semi.

West then reportedly was involved in a physical altercation with the other semi driver before falling off the running board and hitting his head.

West was taken to Newton Medical Center with serious injuries.

The case has been forwarded to the Harvey County prosecutor’s office, which will decide if there will be any charges filed in the case.
