The Salvation Army’s famous Red Kettles have been put away for another year, but the organization still needs your help.

“There’s still plenty of time to donate if you haven’t already and help those who are less fortunate in your own community,” said Brian Carroll, service extension director for The Salvation Army, Kansas and Western Missouri Division. “Our Christmas Campaign runs through Jan. 31, and we still have a long way to go to reach our goal. We are bracing for even greater need throughout the state of Kansas this coming year and are depending on the generosity of others in the community to help us provide support for families and individuals in crisis.”

One way to help your neighbors in need, while also giving yourself a boost at tax-time, is to make a year-end donation to The Salvation Army.

“As long as a gift is made on or before Dec. 31, it will count toward this year’s taxes,” Carroll said. “It’s a great way to help us while also lowering your taxable income.”

Anyone wishing to donate by credit card may call (800) SAL-ARMY or go online to www.salarmy-mokan.org. Checks may be mailed to The Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111. Donations also may be given directly to county Salvation Army representatives. Call (800) 336-4547, extension 368 for the name and contact number.

“Another easy way to support The Salvation Army is to look for one of several donation envelopes we send to past and current donors throughout the holiday season,” Carroll said. “They are pre-printed with our address, just stamp and mail.”
