Doris Gates Dutcher, 88, who was born on Dec. 8, 1920, in Newton, passed away on Dec. 7, 2009, in Cottonwood, Ariz.
Doris moved from Newton to Long Beach, Calif., in 1939, where she met and married Frank Dutcher and where they raised their family. Frank preceded her in death in 1979.
Doris did volunteer work for more than 45 years in Long Beach hospitals. She had a love of adventure and traveled to many countries.
Doris moved to Sedona, Ariz., on her 70th birthday. She was very happy living there and pursued her love of art, her painting and sculpture. Her first love was her church, family and friends, and her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Dutcher Reid (John) and Leilla Dutcher Winn (James Fisher); grandson Jack Reid; sister Betty Mooney (Duane) of Long Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Morris Gates (Margaret) and Edgar Gates (Margaret) of Newton.
