GOESSEL — Wilma R. (Schmidt) Unruh, 101, died Friday (Dec. 25, 2009) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1908, to John J. and Elisabeth (Rempel) Schmidt. 
She married John W. Unruh in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1981. 
Survivors include son, Jim and wife Karen of Louisville, Ky.; daughter, Anna Beth Birky and husband, Howard, of rural Newton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Irva) Schmidt of Hilton Head, S.C., and Herman Schmidt of Reno, Nev.; and sister, Elisabeth Stretch of Boca Raton, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Robert Unruh; brothers, Orlando Schmidt, Raymond Schmidt, Dr. Herbert Schmidt, Dr. John Schmidt and Dr. Alfred Schmidt; and sisters Frieda Banman and Irene Janzen.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday with the family greeting friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel with Pastor Ted Veer officiating. Burial will be in Alexanderwohl Church Cemetery.
