The Newton High School junior varsity wrestling team claimed three titles Saturday at the Hillsboro junior varsity invitational.


The Newton High School junior varsity wrestling team claimed three titles Saturday at the Hillsboro junior varsity invitational.

At 112 pounds, Rigo Magana placed first with a 4-0 record. At 160 pounds, Jesse Lintz placed first at 4-0. At 215 pounds, Jarrod Ornelas finished 3-0 to take first.

Taking second for Newton was Laban Laloutte at 125 pounds at 2-1 and Garrett Lee at heavyweight at 3-1.

Taking third was Tyler Robinson at 119 pounds at 2-2 and Kendall Schmidt at heavyweight at 3-1.

Taking fourth was Ryan Hutton at 160 pounds at 2-2.

Other Railer wrestlers competing inculded Omar Ramos-Thaw (103 pounds, 1-2), Will Kemph (112, 1-2), Peter Nelson (152, 1-2), D.J. Anderson (152, 0-2), Cody Spencer (160, 0-2), Braxton Stahl (160, 1-2), Walter Sanchez (171, 0-2), David Gadea (189, 0-2), Zack Keith (215, 1-2) and Aaron Hochstetler (heavyweight, 1-2).

Newton competes at 6 p.m. Jan. 7 at home against McPherson.
