LAKE AFTON — The Hesston High School boys’ cross country team claimed a third-place finish at the Class 4A regional meet Saturday at Lake Afton, qualifying for state.
Ulysses won the team title with 91 points, followed by Hugoton at 93 and Hesston at 94.
Hesston was led by Zach Baumgartner in third at 17:31, followed by Zach Weber in fourth at 17:39. Riley Barker was 13th at 18:23.
Ryan King was 37th at 19:29, followed by Drew Dahlsten in 44th in 19:45, Dean Dahlsten in 50th at 19:58 and Drew Hageman in 64th in 20:19.
The Hesston girls placed 11th out of 12 teams scoring.
Hesston was led by Megan Baumgartner in 48th in 18:55, followed by Sara Weber in 54th in 19:05, Lauren Weaver in 57th in 19:17, Holly Peters in 59th in 19:23, Jessica Betts in 64th in 19:43, Emily Nickel in 65th in 19:47 and Kaedi LeFevre in 80th in 21:24.
The Hesston boys run in the Class 4A state meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wamego Country Club.
