Caring Hands Humane Society expects to have 20 or more small, pure-breed dogs available the first week of August.

The dogs will come from the Kansas Animal Health Department, which often rescues companion animals from bad situations.

Caring Hands already has assisted KAHD in re-homing pets seized from three such situations this year, with a fantastic save rate, a news release stated.

Those who like small- breed dogs can complete an adoption application for pre-approval.

The application can be completed online at and does not obligate applicants.

Pre-approval just makes the process faster if and when they decide to adopt. No deposit is required for pre-approval.

Caring Hands Humane Society’s adoption fee for dogs is $115.

KAHD has not yet released information on the specific breeds.

Caring Hands offers behavioral assessment and supervised pet introductions to ensure the best possible fit in a new home and with resident pets.

Caring Hands has saved more than 90 percent of all adoptable dogs and more than 80 percent of adoptable cats this year.
