Jessica Mason of the Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston, along with 35 other students, received a scholarship of $500 to attend Goshen College.

MMA announced she is a recipient of an MMA College Scholarship, a program that encourages young people to explore the integration of finances and faith, while helping them on their educational journey.

To be considered for the awards, 187 students from across the country submitted essays on faith and finances. The MMA College Scholarships are given annually as a benefit of membership in MMA or Mennonite Financial Federal Credit Union.

“Students’ essays showed an acute awareness of consumerism’s impact on our society,” Phyllis Mishler, scholarship manager said. “They want to make a difference in people’s lives, but they also understand the strong pull of our consumer-driven society.”

MMA helps people and groups integrate their finances with faith values through its insurance and financial services. Rooted in the Anabaptist faith tradition, MMA also offers practical stewardship education and tools to individuals, congregations, organizations, and businesses.
