The Halstead High School softball team will advance to the semifinals of the Class 3A state tournament with a 3-2 win over Frontenac Friday at the Twin Oaks Softball Complex in Manhattan.


The Halstead High School softball team will advance to the semifinals of the Class 3A state tournament with a 3-2 win over Frontenac Friday at the Twin Oaks Softball Complex in Manhattan.

Halstead, 23-1, faces Rock Creek at 10 a.m. today on Twin Oaks field A. The winner plays in the finals at 1 p.m. The loser plays for third place at noon.

Frontenac ends the season 14-8.

Rock Creek, 18-6, advanced with a 13-2 win over Medicine Lodge. Medicine Lodge ends the season 21-3.

The Hillsboro Trojans saw their season end with a 10-0 loss to top-seeded Thomas More Prep-Marian of Hays in the quarterfinals.

Hillsboro ends the season 13-11.

TMP-Marian improves to 24-0. The Monarchs play Silver Lake, which edged Osage City 4-2. Silver Lake is 19-4. Osage City ends the season 18-4.
