The Hesston High School track team put three entries into the finals of the Class 4A state championships after Friday’s action at Cessna Stadium.


The Hesston High School track team put three entries into the finals of the Class 4A state championships after Friday’s action at Cessna Stadium.

Mollie Nebel took third in her heat of the girls’ 100-meter high hurdles, qualifying sixth overall in 15.96. Nebel was second in her heat in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.09, fourth overall.

Dominique Chew placed 10th in the girls’ shot put in 35-5 1/2.

For the Hesston boys, Landon Unruh placed fourth in his heat of the 200-meter dash in 22.97, qualifying seventh overall.

Shane Knauss placed eighth in the boys’ triple jump in 43-2. Zach Baumgartner finished eighth in the high jump at 6-0, followed by Eyan Roth in 12th at 6-0 and Michael Janzen in 14th at 5-10.

Janzen placed seventh in his heat of the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.27, finishing 12th overall.
