The public has until midnight June 15 to vote for the 8 Wonders of Kansas Cuisine. To date, more than 8,500 have voted online or via paper ballot. Votes have come from all 48 states and from more than 85 countries.

The Inman-based Kansas Sampler Foundation announced the 24 finalists for the 8 Wonders of Kansas Cuisine on April 23. Finalists were chosen because of their iconic status. Restaurants also had to be open for more than 10 years and have originated in Kansas.

The public may vote for their top eight online at www.8wonders.org or once by paper ballot. Ballots can be picked up at one of the finalists or by calling (620) 585-2374. One e-mail address may be used three times to vote.

Foundation director Marci Penner said, “It’s our policy to not reveal rankings, but I can tell you that every vote counts. The race is all over the place. On the other hand, some people have said they don’t know enough about all the restaurants to vote for eight. We urge people to simply click on the picture of any restaurant at www.8wonders.org, and it’ll take you to a page with more pictures and information. It’s an easy way to learn about the finalists — and you’ll want to jump in the car and go eat at these places.”
