• First Presbyterian Church youth and sponsors will return home Friday night from a work trip to Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.

Sunday

• First Presbyterian Church invites the community to Sunday worship service in Athletic Park.

The service will be in the open shelter building area between West Fifth Street and the circle drive on the northeast corner of the park.

A carry-in potluck brunch will follow the service. Bring lawn chairs and table service. Beverages will be provided.

• St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church will have Holy Baptism, Holy Communion and sermon at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at the church. The Day of Pentecost celebration will be in the Parish Hall after the morning service.

• St. Luke Presbyterian Church asks residents to join them Sunday as Pastor Paul Wissink continues his series: “Watching as They Meet Jesus” with “Confidence in Jesus Counts Big Time!” according to Luke 7:1-10.

Worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at 808 E. Sixth St. in Newton. They offer Sunday school classes for all ages, which starts at 9:15 a.m. Child care is available during the service and during Sunday school. They also offer children’s church during the service.

• The Early Risers Praise Service will meet from 8:15 to 9 a.m. every Sunday at Golden Plains Free Methodist Church at 224 N.W. 60th St.

Tuesday

• St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church’s payee program will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Wednesday

• The General CWF will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Vera Spencer of Wichita, fifth Wednesday president, and a representative to the District Cabinet of the District Regional Board of The Disciples of Christ, will install the new officers for 2009-2010.

The theme is “One Spirit, Different Gifts.” The Hannah Group will be hostess.

Thursday

• Walton United Methodist Women will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Walton United Methodist Church. Shepherdess will be Nancy Shuyler.
