• It seems to me our trash pick-up has gotten out of control. When we started the system of the new trash containers and recycling tubs, if we put the wrong thing in the wrong container, we are warned by a note on the container and even fined if we did not comply properly. Now we have a system where one driver picks up the trash container, and there is no way he can know what is in that container. Oil, paint, grass, you name it, can be put in, especially now that we are requested to use the additional costly trash bags to keep items from not getting to the trash truck improperly. Also, we have three large, heavy trucks on our street once a week: The recycle truck, which still requires two employees plus a driver; and the automatic pick-up truck, which has to drive on one side of the road and then return to drive on the other side of the street, adding up to the three large heavy trucks. We may have eliminated several employees plus benefits from our costs but have added street maintenance repair costs.

• Why are they blaming the pigs for the “swine flu.” All that does is hurt the farmers that are carefully raising pigs so we can have some real good pork chops.

• Here we are in a recession and the city commission is talking about raising the water rates! We have people on fixed income, and they want to raise the rates.
