Thirty athletes from Newton High School have qualified for the Kansas High School Activities Association State Track and Field Championships.

Shannon Ahlstedt
Sophomore
second-year qualifier
Medals won: 7th 4x800-m. relay
Events qualified (best marks): 800-m. (2:30), 4x800-m. relay (10:09), 1,600-m. (5:38), 4x400-m. relay (4:17).
Comments from coach Tad Remsberg: “Shannon is a very gifted athlete. Has scored a lot of points for the season running anywhere from 400 meters to the 1,600.”

Tyler Rambo

Junior
second-year qualifier
Medals won: 7th discus.
Events qualified: discus (153-4), shot put (52-0).

Jamie Hansen

Sophomore
first-year qualifier
Event qualified: 100-m. HH (15.87).

Riley Roberts
