We are writing this letter in support of Tim Hodge’s candidacy for USD 373 school board.

We have known Tim as a friend and work colleague for several years. What qualifies Tim to serve on the school board?

What comes to mind first is his quality and commitment as a family man. Tim and his wife, Mary Ellen, have three young children, and will have kids in Newton public schools for the next 16 years.

As a concerned parent, he has a focused and pressing interest in our public schools.

Tim has a proven track record as a consensus builder and community volunteer. Ask anyone who worked with him on the recent successful effort to organize and launch the not-for-profit Newton Childcare Center in south Newton: Tim knows how to assemble data and resources, frame a sensible plan, then carry it out.

He is a problem-solver who has no agenda except the best interests of our community and the kids in it.

Before he attended law school, Tim taught in Peabody’s public schools, which gave him a background in the challenges and opportunities our community’s educators encounter every day.

Today, Tim works as a general practice lawyer in Newton, which gives him another valuable window on what makes our community tick and what’s most important to those of us who live and work here.

Please give your consideration to voting for Tim Hodge for school board on April 7.
