Harry Friesen, 85, died Wednesday (Jan. 28, 2009) at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

The family will receive guests from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.


Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Steve Schroeder officiating.


Harry Friesen, 85, died Wednesday (Jan. 28, 2009) at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

He was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Meade to Jacob F. and Margaret (Isaac) Friesen.

He was a missionary.

He married Millie Brenner on June 1, 1945, in Durham. She survives of rural Marion.

He was a member of Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro.

Other survivors include sons, Steve Friesen of Newton and Phil Friesen of Concord, Calif.; daughters, Marilyn Fast of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Grace Steele of Tyler, Texas, Joyce Herrington of Krasnodar, Russia, and Debbie Phillips of Rowlett, Texas; brothers, Lee Friesen of Rosebud, Texas, and Dwaine Friesen of Fairbury, Neb.; sisters, Lena Friesen and Ann Wiens, both of Reedley, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive guests from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

A private family burial will be conducted.
