Delia Lujano, counselor at Cloud Elementary School in Wichita and resident of Newton, has been selected by South Central Kansas Counseling Association as their nominee for KCA Hall of Fame.

She was selected from among 100-plus members in the region due to her intense involvement in the lives and needs of the community as well as her willingness to share ideas and motivation with fellow counselors. Delia works diligently with the students at Cloud but also with their families. She teaches parenting classes in both Spanish and English as well as citizenship classes. She involves her students with activities honoring country and each other by emphasizing personal responsibility. Examples include having students new to the country participate in raising and lowering the flag each day, involving students in peer conflict resolution, and holding them accountable for rules and laws through the Safety Patrol.

Announcement of potential state-level honors will take place at the KCA Conference in Great Bend on March 13.
