Mary E. (Spangler) Myers passed away Sunday (Jan. 25, 2009) at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.


Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.


Mary E. (Spangler) Myers passed away Sunday (Jan. 25, 2009) at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1958, in El Dorado to Edwin and Carole (Blanck) Spangler. They preceded her in death.

Mary attended Burns grade school and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Mary was a member of Burns Ebenezer Methodist Church.

She worked in the health-care industry for 30 years. She enjoyed many things, including arts, crafts, quilting, embroidery, digital picture taking and technology with computers.

On Aug. 20, 2003, Mary married Joe Myers in Vancouver, Wash. They lived in Burns.

Mary is survived by her husband, Joe Myers of Burns, and two sisters, Debbie Johnson of Wichita and Linda Robinson of Florence. She has four stepchildren and nine stepgrandchildren.

A memorial fund has been set up for the Mary Myers Funeral Fund in care of the funeral home.
