The Harvey County United Way announced Monday it had reached 95 percent of its fund-raising goal for 2008.

The organization raised 308,000 during its campaign, short of the $325,000 goal.

The organization elected a new board chairwoman Monday, Kati Sartain.

Member agencies in 2008 included American Red Cross, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, CASA: A Voice for Children, Community Playschool, Girl Scouts of the Heartland, Harvey County Communities in Schools, Harvey County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task Force, Health Ministries, Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center, Hesston Area Senior Center, Hesston Child Care, Mirror Inc., Newton Area Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Offender/Victim Ministries, Quivira Council of Boy Scouts, St. Matthews Representative Payee Program, RSVP, Salvation Army, Trinity Heights Respite Care, United Cerebral Palsy, USD 373 Latchkey and Wichita Children’s Home.
