BURRTON — The Berean Academy Warrior boys’ basketball team captured the title of the Burrton Invitational Saturday with a 51-31 win over Heart of America League rival Peabody-Burns.

Down 8-6 after the first quarter, Berean Academy made an 18-4 run in the second quarter.

Caleb Hoover scored 11 points for Berean Academy. Lonnie Penner, Karlin Wiebe and Owen Beverlin scored eight points each.

Jacob Simmonds scored 11 points for Peabody-Burns. Martin Hofkamp added eight points.

Berean Academy plays Feb. 3 at Goessel. Peabody-Burns plays Feb. 3 at Sedgwick.

Alex Santiago scored 34 points to lead the Burrton Chargers to a 66-57 win over Pretty Prairie Saturday in the third-place game of the Burrton Chargers.

Burrton led 35-22 at the half.

Tad Davis added 20 points for Burrton.

Ryan Chambers scored 16 points for Pretty Prairie. Tanner Hines scored 12 points.

Burrton plays Pretty Prairie Tuesday at home and Feb. 3 at Pretty Prairie.

Goessel led 32-19 at the half.
