Joe A. Hake, 86, passed away Sunday (Jan. 25, 2009) at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville.


The Ladies Guild Rosary will be at 3 p.m. today, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. today followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary, all at the funeral chapel.


Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville, with Father Galen Long officiating.


Joe A. Hake, 86, passed away Sunday (Jan. 25, 2009) at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.

He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Tipton to John J. and Martha (Adam) Hake. They preceded him in death.

He was a longtime resident of the Plainville area and worked in residential construction.

He married Thelma Marie Dreiling on Aug. 26, 1946, in Plainville. She died on Feb. 28, 2007.

Survivors include sons, Mike and Cindy Hake of Colby, Bill and Rosie Hake of North Newton, Dean and Becky Hake of Hutchinson, and Jim and Cathy Hake of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughters, Karen and David Reed of Stockton, Judy and Max Wilson of Hutchinson, and Brenda and Phil Gilliland of Concordia; brother, Raymond Hake of Conroe, Texas; sisters, Rita Erickson and Geraldine Karns, both of Plainville, and Mary Lee Berland of Colorado; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by an infant son, and nine brothers and sisters.
