Janice Marie Brown, 62, died Tuesday (Dec. 30, 2008) in Newton.

Book signing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. There will be no family visitation.


A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Newton.


Janice Marie Brown, 62, died Tuesday (Dec. 30, 2008) in Newton.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1946, in Wichita, the daughter of Francis (Sams) and Edward Thomas Mervia.

Janice enjoyed playing bingo, shopping and spending time with her friends. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Brown of Newton and James Brown of Peabody; three daughters, Sherry Brown of Newton, Cheryl Williams of Haysville and Karen Lee of Halstead; two sisters, Ann Mervia of Wichita and Joyce Matson of California; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her father.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

The family will have a private committal.
