Newton High School senior Cody Schmidt won the boys’ scratch singles title in the major division of the Kansas State Youth Championship Tournament in Olathe and Kansas City.


Newton High School senior Cody Schmidt won the boys’ scratch singles title in the major division of the Kansas State Youth Championship Tournament in Olathe and Kansas City.

The tournament went three weekends with participants bowling three games each in singles, doubles and team.

Schmidt won the singles scratch division with a 745 series.

He had an all-events handicap score of 1,837.

Schmidt is a three-year letterwinner for the Newton High school team and will compete with the Railers again this season.
