The Communities In Schools of Harvey County organization hired Racquel Thiesen to coordinate a Social Norms Campaign with students in Harvey County high schools.

“Racquel’s experience is a natural fit for this type of contract-based work,” said Lynnette Redington, Communities In Schools interim executive director and Drug-Free Youth Coalition coordinator. “Our coalition wanted to capitalize on Racquel’s level of community involvement and experience in working with high school students through the Student Leadership Program that she co-directs.”

The Social Norms approach has been widely recognized as a proven way of preventing binge drinking by young people, according to a press release. Funding for the Social Norms Campaign and Drug-Free Youth Coalition is through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
